Girasole 2012 IGT Toscana – Bellus Wines
Italy, a wine country I always struggled to understand. A wine country where wine is as complicated as its history. However, I have determined that I will put that struggle in the past and get to know this rustic wine country. When we were invited for a drink on a rooftop garden, I had to bring a Italian wine to celebrate my dedication. Before the summer heat and sticky humidity in the city make us eschew any tannic drinks, I thought we should drink red, but that was a bad decision. Little did I know, Griasole 2012 had little too much power to be drunk by herself. Oh, how much I wish we had some fatty meats on our table!
This lady is a textbook Italian beauty, and she knows it. You can tell by the way she wears her dark red lipsticks; she is not afraid to flaunt her beauty. Handle with care, however; I think deliciously cooked steak or well-seasoned lamb would make her easier to get along. She is a typical Italian; her dried dark cherries, strawberries, pomegranate, plums and cranberries were covered in dusty Italian clay. You cannot miss the hint of oregano and basil that compliments her beauty. Her kisses blow vanilla and coffee beans, and it makes you hungry for some fatty food.
Italy, I am still getting to know her. Only if learning about the region were easy as drinking the wine… we’d be best friends.
