Domaine Louis Michel et Fils Chablis 2015

Domaine Louis Michel et Fils Chablis 2015

Chicken and Chardonnay: a religious pairing just like french fries and ketchup, salt and pepper, or Jack and Diane. This pairing, however, makes me cringe, because I am a self-proclaimed ABC* and I believe chicken goes all the way bottom on the land meat hierarchy. I had the chablis sitting in the fridge a little too long, so when Alan was cooking honey-rhubarb chicken we received from Blue Apron, I instantly thought it was the chance to open the bottle and just be done with it. Little did I know… as soon as I poured the pale gold devine juice into the glass, I realized I judged too quickly.

They say, don’t judge a book by its cover–for this case, don’t judge a wine by its label.

The wine is so poetic. It’s early June in a French countryside. The sky is so clear and so blue just like the perfect spring day, and the weather is inviting you for a picnic. And there she is lying down in the middle of green field surrounded by white flowers and fresh grass enjoying spring breeze tickling her skin and a glass of cold lemonade. That’s Louis Michel et Fils Chablis… a poem in the bottle. A fruity wine with lemon, juicy red/yellow apple and some tropical fruit notes all completemented by sweet white flowers and some hint of grass. The deliciously zippy acid and mid-low alcohol are what I die for in wines. She is little shy on her body, but nevertheless yummy. She can be perfect with some light food like rhubarb chicken, but she is also gorgeous by herself.

Oh, how much I loved this pairing, especially the wine. I thought I would have an okay dinner, but it turned out to be quite enjoyable.
